CDU Outputs and Services
- Monitoring - reporting on business plans, company reports, performance against targets and sectoral trends
- Ownership advice - advising on strategic issues, investment and diversification opportunities, restructuring issues, and the impact of policy positions
- Ministerial servicing - managing issues and drafting replies to correspondence,
- Governance - identifying and screening potential directors, managing the appointments' processes and promoting best-practice corporate governance of Crown companies and entities
- Negotiation on behalf of SOE's with AMD and Donor agencies
- Procuring funding for non-profit activities (negotiating with government for reimbursement for operation pertaining to the Crown's social responsibilities)
- Project support and advice to SOEs
- Advise Minister of SOE's Performance and financial position
Portfolio of companies/entities
Bank of Cook Islands (BCI)
Established in 2002 with the merging of the Cook Islands Savings Bank and the Cook Islands Development Bank. BCI operates as a trading bank in Rarotonga and is the only bank that services alln of the Outer Islands.
Te Aponga Uira O Tumu-te-Varovaro (TAU)
Te Aponga Uira (TAU) was established in 1991 with the corporatisation of the Power Supply for Rarotonga. The government has full ownership of TAU.
Ports Authority
The Ports Authority manages both the Aitutaki and Rarotongan Ports Services.
Airport Authority
Like the Ports Authority, manages operations in both Rarotonga (international) and Aitutaki (domestic only), and also is responsible for the islands' fire services.
